What is a baby chick battery cage? The baby chick battery cage is a type of battery cage system specially designed for baby chickens. It provides a warm, dry, clean, safe, and nutritionally adequate artificial environment to help them get through the most vulnerable weeks after birth (0–6 weeks). After this stage (about 60 days), laying chickens begin to lay eggs and need to be transferred to specialized layer battery cages, while broilers only require a feeder change to continue breeding.

A-type Chick Battery Cage
The A-type chick battery cage is a poultry breeding cage with a stepped design, resembling the letter “A.” This design takes up less floor space, enhancing the use of vertical space, and prevents manure from accumulating between upper and lower tiers. Typically consisting of 3 to 4 layers, newly hatched chicks are placed in the middle layer for easy observation and handling. The A-type battery cage is a one-stop brooding cage that allows broilers to be raised from chicks to adult chickens without needing to change cages, only requiring the replacement of the feeders and drinkers. However, once the hens begin to lay eggs, they need to be transferred to a layer cage.
It offers great cost-effectiveness, making it ideal for small to medium-scale farming, especially for newcomers. It can be paired with both semi-automatic and fully automatic feeding systems, providing a great growing environment for chicks.

European-style H-type Chick Battery Cage
The European-style H-type chick battery cage is a poultry breeding cage with aligned and stacked layers that resemble the letter “H.” This design features a small footprint, a stable structure, and can accommodate up to 9 layers, allowing for large-scale farming. However, each layer requires the installation of manure removal belts to minimize interference between layers. For ease of operation, the H-type chick cage typically consists of 4 to 5 layers, and all cage panels and mesh are made of hot-dip galvanized steel, offering excellent corrosion and wear resistance. The European-style H-type battery cage is also a one-stop brooding cage that can raise both broiler chicken (no need to change cage) and layer chicken (need to change cage when starting egg-laying).
It is suitable for large-scale farming with ample capital and can only be paired with fully automated feeding systems.
